Zarkpa’s was founded by Liberian native, Tracy Garley, who has always dreamt about running her own business since she was 16 years old. When working her first job at McDonalds she knew that working for others wasn’t her passion. She decided to invest more time in entrepreneurship. While in college in 2011, Tracy and her family decided to open up a retail storefront in Inkster MI. Tracy knew that after college she wanted to take the family business to the next level.
Zarkpa’s originally came from The Grand Gedeh County in Monrovia, Liberia a west African country. Which was founded in 1816 by The American Colonization Society and got their Independence on July 26, 1847. The meaning of Zarkpa’s means “Debt Free”, which is Tracy’s late Grandmother’s name. Tracy wanted to keep her grandmother’s legacy existent so she and her parents decided to name the company after her. Zarkpa’s was rooted in 2014 in the heart of Downtown Detroit, where a City Girl With Big Dreams, Tracy Garley, wanted to turn her idea of retail business into reality by opening up an upscale storefront. The company specializes in authentic and exclusive lifestyle products that are handmade in Detroit, such as leather goods to one of a kind purses, clothing, and accessories.
